David Abrams brings a unique combination of hands-on experience, legal expertise, and a passion for client-focused service to his role as Managing Partner at AWA Law Firm. His journey into real estate and law began long before his legal career, with summers spent working on construction crews in North Carolina. These early experiences literally forged his connection to real estate in blood, sweat, and an occasional electrical shock. Through construction work, David learned the value of hard work, teamwork, and dedication to creating tangible results—qualities that continue to define his professional approach.

After earning his law degree, David began his legal career by serving the community as a prosecutor in the Harris County District Attorney’s Office, one of the largest in the nation. During his six years as a prosecutor, David gained exceptional trial experience, leading over 50 jury trials and participating in dozens more. He managed a wide range of cases, from misdemeanors to complex felony dockets, and honed his negotiation skills through hundreds of plea agreements. Additionally, he developed leadership and organizational skills by training and managing teams of prosecutors and interns. This invaluable experience shaped David into a skilled trial lawyer and an effective leader, laying the groundwork for his future endeavors.

Following his time at the District Attorney’s Office, David merged his legal expertise with his background in construction by joining a real estate company that purchased residential and commercial properties in Texas, Florida, and North Carolina. In this role, he managed contracts, construction projects, leases, and property transactions, further deepening his understanding of the real estate industry. He also gained valuable experience in corporate structuring, contract drafting, and project profitability analysis, which enhanced his ability to navigate the business side of real estate law.

In 2018, David co-founded AWA Law Firm with his partner, JD Walt. Together, they built a boutique firm focused on delivering accurate, creative legal solutions alongside outstanding client service and communication. Recognizing the legal industry’s reputation for poor communication and unrealistic expectations, David and JD prioritized a cultural shift in their practice. Their mission is to provide every client with a Five-Star Experience by focusing on transparency, responsiveness, and results.
